~ EVALUATION ~

Q1)The way that our group trailer compares to a real media text is that we have followed the genre convention of a traditional psychological thriller trailer like movies E.g. Afterschool and Blair Witch Project so in our trailer we have included the following
1. Quotes from magazine EG Empire, Total film

2. The award that the movie is up for
3. Captions like Based on a true story
4. institutional data
5. The credits
6. The website
7. The Release data of the movie
Furthermore we also made our trailer very confusing so we thought that we had to manipulated the story so the people have to work out whom killed the girl and make the viewers have questions that need answering.

Q2)After the whole process of the trailer these are the strengths and weakness of the group
Strengths:
We had a lot more recording then was needed because we had shot more then we needed is was due to the group wanted alot of actual recording to fix in the editing aspects of the trailer.

the whole group is dedicated to their roles so for example Hina has produced additional posters design for our trailer to add a more realistic and authentic feel to the whole trailer. Furthermore also Suhail has taken a key part in the camera department by having a few unconventional scenes like running through the tree following the popular boy, so this adds speed to the shot.

The group are coming up with ideas throughout the whole production so the creative skills from the group are always trying to improve the trailer on a daily rate. For example we all wanted to add more shots to our trailer and the group want to include just the best and more eye catching shot to attract the viewer.

The group was excellent on all filming session, so the group worked well even through bad weather condition and everybody was on time and ready to give the best so I commend the group for their attitude.

Weaknesses:
The group was been working hard but I want to highlight that the organising need slight improving in accordance to the work is not in one place. so to improve we need to collect all the work have keep it in one place so the accessibility to the work is more quicker and faster

Another problem I would like to comment on is the cast. The problem we had with cast is that many of them have slight or tight schedule so they can only record for a set amount of time, so this was a problem because we had to reshot some shots and the cast was not to happy

~PLAN OF ACTION~

1. Complete the Rough Edit:
So i need to get all the individual shots in order and trim the unnecessary shots that are not needed.also i need to join all the clips together and have no missing gaps.

2. Work on the Narrative once all the trailer is in right order:
So once the clips are in order i can then start to work out what clips would be in what order to make the trailer look more interesting and make the viewers confused if needs be.

3. Add Voice over and Soundtrack
I need to include all the voice that Hina has collected which are the main actors,Sam and finally Micheal's.Also the soundtrack needs to be added so the trailer is complete

4. Add Production Companies and Institutional Data
Finally i need to add the conventional items so the Institutional data which i have created on Adobe Photoshop Cs3.so these will be included in the final sequence.

~MONDAY 8TH FEBRUARY~

In today lesson due I was entirely focusing on the second half of the trailer which consists of the following

1. The Uploading Scene in the Mac Room.
2. The Parents scene (GRANDMA SCARY....)
3. The final Sequence.

So I was putting together all the rough edit so I could then focus on the narrative aspects of the trailers, due to some technical failures the group could not use all the wanted material because for one sequence where Hina uncle acts out an angry parent. The sound of the clip has moved out of sync so you can hear the voice at the start of the clip but however preceding through the clip it is utter silence so I had to come up with a task plan to eliminate the problem that had occurred.

Furthermore during today lesson we had also encountered a problem where some of the clip during the trailer because some clips at size 4.3 which has black bar on the top and bottom.

The picture below show an example of the border around the movie

While on the other hand the rest of the movie has in another format which is 16.9 which is a much wider and full picture so this is another promblem which can be added to the long list throught the whole trailer. If we had not rectify this promblem the movie would not look constant rather look more amature.

~MONDAY 1ST FEBRUARY~

In today's lesson the whole group where working on their each individual roles which is needed due to the deadline looming ever closer Here's what everyone was doing in today's lesson;

• Raza: I was mainly focused on the editing and started adding slow-motion to some of the key scene which is the toilet to add effect. So I did some of the scene in slow-motion for example me (MAIN ACTOR/EDITIOR) getting Hit and falling to ground to add the dramatic fell to the movie. I was showing the rest of my group the progress so they could show me their perspective on the trailer Fortunately, everything's going pretty fast however I will be staying behind on the Wednesday evening at 3-4pm to carry on editing certain shots so we can complete the trailer.

• Suhail: Suhail was multi-tasking so he was firstly helping me to work out each individual shot and cutting the strip so we can include each individual shot to the trailer. This was an advantage as he was helping the entire group out. He also was helping Hina with the Voice Over through more advice on where and when to include it.

• Hina: She was simply completing the voice-over with Phil’s assistance. Thanks to Phil’s advice on the Reverb, Echo, Compression, Visual EQ and Track Automation, she knew how to complete the whole VO.SO she completed both voice-over's (teacher's version and MY (RAZA version) and she saved it to the student database where I can access it easily.
Progress:

So far, everyone is up-to-date. We currently have two weeks remaining and now that the voice-over is complete, we focus are whole attention on just the Editing aspects of the work which includes captions, logo's and music. So on Wednesday I will stay behind to focus more on editing while the rest of the group will play a passive role as giving advice and watching their overall progress and start checking and adding changes or improvements to it.

So just TWO WEEK REMAINING and we should have everything complete hopefully................

~MONDAY 25TH JANUARY~

So during this week the whole group was primarily focusing on the editing aspects of the work as well as the group’s individual role in the Production. We did this because some members of the group for example Hina, Suhail wanted to gain added experience on the whole editing aspects for further knowledge. Also they did this incase if I was away for any instance so they group does not miss out on valuable time. The skills they need to learn where the following

1. How to edit each shot
2. How to spread each shot
3. How to add certain effects (Slow motion)

Thus we all tried to work on the editing side of the production due to the role is lengthy and some added support was needed on my behalf due to I could not cope with all the work so the group all came together to help (THANK YOU).

Hina also is working on the music so she started to put togetour the voice over
The photo show me in the studio performing VO
ADD PHOTOGRAPHS

This first photo shows Phil trying to fix the Voice over equipment so my voice sound more deeper or higher to add effect and furthermore to loacte the microphone to make my voice sound non distorted.

This second picture shows me trying to learn the script and make sure im saying the right stuff luckily Hina there to help if i make a mistake

The microphone is found and the photo shows me getting ready for the Voice over for our trailer.the stage is set.....

The fian picture is me reading the script and let my voice be recored for trailer
Haaaaa phewww (i was nervous)its COMPLETED(JUST MY VO)

~EDITING IN PROGRESS~

On Monday 18th January Hina, Suhail and me continued working on our trailer. I was focusing all my attention on the Editing aspects. Firstly I uploaded the recent shooting which was the toilet scene where the popular boy was attacked. So I was capturing the each individual shots and relocating them to the bin on Final Cut Express (FCE).Suhail was firstly telling me the approximate length of each individual clip and furthermore wanted to learn some aspects of editing. So I showed him the following;

•How to cut the unwanted material from each individual shots.
•How to speed or slow down each clip by using the toolbar on FCE.
•How to add cross dissolve and video filters.

Finally Hina was not focusing on the editing side of the group but however she was looking at the music/soundtrack of the trailer. Also the group needed assistance with the shot layout so Hina provided the group with the captions layout and the storyboard to make clear the sequence of the trailer

(MEETING ON WEDNESDAY)

Also the group decided to stay behind on Wednesday 20th January. So me and Suhail have decided to film some of the toilet scenes again due to a lack of constancies in the shot for example

•First shot there are bags on top and below the hand dryer in the toilet
•However in the second shot there is only one bag in the shot so a lack on constancies make the shot look to different
After the reshooting of the toilet scene I will also perform some voiceover due to some of the shot of me the sound is too distorted so to make it look more realistic it needs to be added.

~THE SCHEDULE~

Our group has came up with a schedule plan for our trailer so we all know exactly what each person individual role is and what is necessary to complete the coursework. So during today’s lesson our group all compiled a calendar/schedule plan.

The schedule consists of the following:

Monday 4th January (and the remaining Mondays for the next 6 weeks)
This slot is the media lesson where Raza will the complete the editing aspect of the whole trailer and the other members in the group will do the captions and the institutional data.

Wednesday (Annual meeting)
So on the Wednesday our group normally has a meeting that will continue so we have more time to complete the entire trailer. Furthermore we will have time to fix any problems that we encounter during the editing phase of the coursework.

Also this Wednesday Raza will complete his voiceover so we can add that to our trailer because the original sound for one of the recording was slightly distorted so we can just simply fix that by adding a Voice Over for that specific scene.
