~EDITING IN PROGRESS~

On Monday 18th January Hina, Suhail and me continued working on our trailer. I was focusing all my attention on the Editing aspects. Firstly I uploaded the recent shooting which was the toilet scene where the popular boy was attacked. So I was capturing the each individual shots and relocating them to the bin on Final Cut Express (FCE).Suhail was firstly telling me the approximate length of each individual clip and furthermore wanted to learn some aspects of editing. So I showed him the following;

•How to cut the unwanted material from each individual shots.
•How to speed or slow down each clip by using the toolbar on FCE.
•How to add cross dissolve and video filters.

Finally Hina was not focusing on the editing side of the group but however she was looking at the music/soundtrack of the trailer. Also the group needed assistance with the shot layout so Hina provided the group with the captions layout and the storyboard to make clear the sequence of the trailer

(MEETING ON WEDNESDAY)

Also the group decided to stay behind on Wednesday 20th January. So me and Suhail have decided to film some of the toilet scenes again due to a lack of constancies in the shot for example

•First shot there are bags on top and below the hand dryer in the toilet
•However in the second shot there is only one bag in the shot so a lack on constancies make the shot look to different
After the reshooting of the toilet scene I will also perform some voiceover due to some of the shot of me the sound is too distorted so to make it look more realistic it needs to be added.

~THE SCHEDULE~

Our group has came up with a schedule plan for our trailer so we all know exactly what each person individual role is and what is necessary to complete the coursework. So during today’s lesson our group all compiled a calendar/schedule plan.

The schedule consists of the following:

Monday 4th January (and the remaining Mondays for the next 6 weeks)
This slot is the media lesson where Raza will the complete the editing aspect of the whole trailer and the other members in the group will do the captions and the institutional data.

Wednesday (Annual meeting)
So on the Wednesday our group normally has a meeting that will continue so we have more time to complete the entire trailer. Furthermore we will have time to fix any problems that we encounter during the editing phase of the coursework.

Also this Wednesday Raza will complete his voiceover so we can add that to our trailer because the original sound for one of the recording was slightly distorted so we can just simply fix that by adding a Voice Over for that specific scene.

~MY ROLE(GETS IN FULL FLOW NOW)~

My Role
} My individual role in the actual production is the editing, the editing is compiling each individual shot to firstly make the whole trailer and then add certain effects and style to add a new dimension to the movie.
} The editing part of the productions consists of the following:
} The speed of the trailer
} The transitions
} Montages
} The flashbacks
} Adding the sound to the moving images
} Add the Voice over

i will be able now to start my role because our group has now uploaded all of our footage so I can start to manipulate the footage to become our trailer and furthermore the rest of the group will try and aid the process aswell.

~AUDIENCE OF OUR TRAILER~

In terms of audience, The Thriller genre has a mass target audience. To increase the publicity of the movies and make people aware of the movie, the thriller genre is mostly targeted for people whom are ranging from late teens aged from 16 to 30 years old. I have chosen this target audience because the thriller genre has intellectual puzzles so the answers to question will make the viewer question the knowledge so for the younger generation the questions will not be answered and even not recognised. Also a majority of 16 to 30 years olds would be their primary target audience as they'd be able to understand the concept more and would relate to a preferred meaning (they would agree with what has been given to them).

Thriller-film directors would try and resist attracting a Niche audience except if they were trying to make a Independent Thriller film. Also, we would aim toward a both male and female audience and try and expand our target audience as much as possible, In terms of demographics, we would aim our Thriller trailer towards working class (Group D).in general 57% of women are targeted to watch a Thriller movie whereas 43% of males are targeted for Thriller films.

In relation to our trailer, we have aimed our Thriller film towards 16to 30 year olds and we may rely on a Niche audience, as it is classed an Independent British film, which is similar with This is England which was an Independent film as it consisted of a Low budget movie (1.5 Million), and had unexpectedly won an award at the 2007 British Academy Film Awards for best film thus transforming from a Niche audience to a Large worldwide reception.
