Group Meeting

On wednesday all the group arrived at the group meeting in media room. We discussed the following in detail,these were our objectives;

1-To refine the actual plot of our trailer
2-To get ideas to make out trailer more interting
3-Where in the trailer will there be that change to increase spped and tension
4-To start of the Storyboard(We completed 10 shots)
5-We each have compiled our own endings so we can incorporate all our ideas and make the trailer have a dramatic ending

MY ROLE IN THE PRODUCTION

The Movie Plot
Firstly the name of our trailer is called “Cut”.
} The basic plot of our trailer is that we start of at film club in college where student come regularly to watch movies and discuss the issues represented in the movie and does it interest them. During one of the weeks the whole club is giving a coursework style task to record their own movie. So a group of student go into a sort of natural park with alot of green lands. To record a documentary of some kind the teacher ask the student to return to the coach to go back to college however somebody leaves there camera. However the camera had been left on and was still recording. The camera records a person being dragged by the legs but someone shoes are seen and the suspect is it large.
} The Target audience of our trailer is going to be teenagers and students from the ages of 15-25 years old due to mostly teenagers and young adults enjoy the whole Crime Thriller style genre.

The inspiration for our trailer
} There was a variety of movie that inspired our trailer for example The Blair Witch project has a realistic Gorilla style filming which adds to the whole atmosphere and look of the movie. This movie is about three young film makers whom disappear and their footage is found a year later.
} Here is an example of the style of film making from The Blair Witch Project.

My Role
} My individual role in the actual production is the editing, the editing is compiling each individual shot to firstly make the whole trailer and then add certain effects and style to add a new dimension to the movie.
} The editing part of the productions consists of the following:
} The speed of the trailer
} The transitions
} Montages
} The flashbacks
} Adding the sound to the moving images
} Add the Voice over

The next few slides are going to describe each aspect of editing to the trailer and with examples.
Speed
} The speed of the trailer plays a huge role on determining the actual mood of the trailer for example at the start the speed will be of a normal pace to create a sense of equilibrium but as each part of the plot unfolded the gradually speed will increase to synchronise with the actions on screen. So as the tension is building so will be the speed of the trailer.
} Also Slow motion will be used to exploit the clues to who is the murderer.

Transition
— A Transition is the moving from one scene to another to create a sense of time in trailers for example in our trailer there will be MS of all the pupils in the library receiving the Coursework brief and then furthermore the groups walking through the park talking about what they are going to record and what they are going to do after the trip.

Montage
A montage is a series of short shots to condense space and time. so this will be a quick selection of images at the start of the trailer
A student putting up a a4 notice on the board
All the students standing outside the classroom for the film club
Then the whole class sitting receiving the Deadline for their coursework
This is effective because the short shots get the viewers intrigued form the start and from early on in the trailer the viewer is already asking question where is this and what the trailer is about.
